Wright & Co. (Barristers-At-Law, Solicitors of the High Court of Sierra Leone & Legal Consultants) was established in January 1993 by the current Head of the Firm and Managing Partner, Rowland S.V. Wright Esq. The Firm offers a full range of services for its diverse clientele from its offices at Top Floor, No. 8 Pademba Road, Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone. 
Its broad client base ranges from local businesses to foreign institutions, government agencies and international corporate entities. The Firm offers a broad range of skills and experience predominantly in Corporate/Commercial matters, Financial Institutions, Mining Companies, Trade Disputes, Commercial Properties (acquisition and disposition), Mergers and Acquisitions, Project Finance, Liquidations, Construction Contracts, International Trade Agreements employment law and Alternate Dispute Resolution. The firm also has an active litigation practice. The firm has been recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the largest and most prominent law firms in Sierra Leone.

Over the years, Wright & Co. has provided Company Secretarial Services to corporate bodies, institutions and organizations and also serves as retained Solicitors of Banks, Insurance Companies, Airlines, Commercial Houses, Non-Governmental Organizations, Embassies and High Commissions (including the British High Commission, with our Head of Chambers serving as Honorary Legal Adviser to successive British High Commissioners in Sierra Leone for the past 18 years, had served as retained solicitors for the American Embassy in Sierra Leone and the Netherlands Immigration Services).

Legal professional privilege is at the heart of the legal profession generally. We maintain very rigid internal policies regarding the confidentiality of client information, which cut across all members of staff. The trust that is bestowed upon us by our clients and even potential clients necessitates us to ensure that they are always assured of confidentiality.

Specifically, we ensure that the protection of confidential information relates to ALL or ANY information received from our clients. We maintain an obligation not to disclose or misuse the information. When it is discovered that an information of our client is in the public domain, we immediately inform them accordingly.

This internal principle of robust confidentiality is why the firm has been able to attract and maintain high profile clients for the past 25 years. 

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST


*We have a wide range of clientele most of whose business model are similar and/or related. In the premise, it remains our duty to identify any actual or potential conflict of interest. Whenever there are issues of conflict (whether actual or otherwise), we immediately inform the clients involved with a view towards informing them of the conflict and propose that new solicitors are contracted for that particular work. Further, the affected clients may elect to expressly waive the conflict in writing. Where this is the case, a ‘Chinese wall’ doctrine is implemented to avoid any prejudice to the clients involved. 

*It is our principle that our retained clients take precedence over other clients in the event of conflict.

*We further ensure that a conflict check is conducted before a new engagement is accepted and in the event of a conflict, the client is immediately notified.

Our Attorneys

ANRITÉ THOMPSON 

Esq. – Anrité is a Junior Partner at the firm of Wright & Co. (Solicitors) and is involved in litigation and advising clients on leading commercial and finance transactions. He is a member of the management team and is keen about the best service delivery to our clients.
He is responsible for advising our key corporate clients including banks and mining companies in and out of Sierra Leone. Anrite has acted for clients as lead counsel in arbitrations and other alternate dispute resolution processes. He has been involved in several cases before the High Court and Court of Appeal in Sierra Leone.
Anrité is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of International Arbitration. He is also lecturer at Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone who lectures commercial law in the departments of law, accounting and finance and economics and commerce.
From August 2011 to August 2012, Anrité worked with AdvocAid and Defence for Children International in Freetown and the provinces.
Anrité is dedicated to achieving results and practical solutions to problems, issues and challenges of both the clients and the firm generally. He however has keen interest in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, particularly arbitration. He has been involved in many projects that the firm has undertaken in both the private and public sector.
Anrité holds a LLB degree from the University of Sierra Leone and an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law from the Queen Mary University of London. He joined the firm in 2014.

PATRICIA V. FOMBA

 is a Barrister and Solicitor, called to the Sierra Leone Bar in 2018. She holds Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons.) degree graduating as the best female student at Fourah Bay College for class of 2016/2017. She is also a Chartered Secretary, an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrator ((ICSA) The Chartered Governance Institute) in the United Kingdom. She has over 17 years’ experience as a company secretary and has worked for over nine years, serving companies in both the private and public sectors in Sierra Leone, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks. She was one of the drafters of the very first Sierra Leone National Code of Corporate Governance which was recently launched by the Corporate Affair Commissions. She has been through several training sessions in corporate governance, risk management, compliance, board effectiveness etc. and a trainer on compliance, regulatory practices and Company Secretarial Services.

MOHAMED NEUF BAH

 is a Barrister and Solicitor. Prior to being a lawyer, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone in 2014. Following his first degree, he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Second Class: Upper Division) in August 2017, by the University of London.
 
During his academic journey, Mohamed Neuf Bah worked for a few reputable institutions, where he gained invaluable experience. In May 2016, he was employed by the First International Bank (SL) Limited as a Retail Banking Officer, where his functions included inter alia, preparing Banking facilities, to wit; Overdrafts, Term Loans, Salary Loans, etc. Following his stint in the Banking world, he was employed by the Institute of Management and Technology (IMAT College) to lecture Public Law to students preparing for the University of London exams, for the 2016-2017 academic year.
His academic achievements together with his working experiences have equipped him with the requisite set skills to thrive in the Legal profession.

MARIO G. MACKAY

was called to the Sierra Leone Bar in 2018 after graduating from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra with an LLB (Hons). He is a Barrister and Solicitor at Wright & Co. (Solicitors), the firm where he interned since after graduating from University in 2017; under the tutelage and supervision of the Head of Chambers, Rowland S.V. Wright Esq.
In addition to the firm’s predominant and widely renowned commercial and employment practice, which has always been delivered with the highest standards; Mario has a keen interest in the growth and development of arts and technology in our jurisdiction and harnessing their benefits for our socioeconomic landscape.


ADAMA SESAY

 is a pupil Barrister at Wright & Co. (Solicitors) after being called to the Bar in 2020. she graduate from Fouray Bay College University of Sierra Leone with a Second Class Second Division in Bachelor of Law with Honors. She initially worked at Wright & Co ( Solicitors) as an intern and has been with the firm for almost four years.

Specific Performance & Achievements

Our Firm has extensive experience with a total of six (6) leading commercial banks in Sierra Leone, four (4) of which are current clients, three (3) of whom we act as retained solicitors for. We are also retained solicitors for two (2) leading insurance companies in Sierra Leone. Generally our firm is retained by several corporate clients and actively engaged in the provision of services to corporate entities including but not limited to proffering legal opinions, incorporation of companies, insolvency proceedings, liquidations, conducting due diligence exercises, drafting and reviewing of contracts, mergers and acquisitions mortgages, debentures and other legal instruments etc.
Our firm has been directly involved in the incorporation, registration and setting up of numerous companies inclusive of two (2) leading commercial banks in Sierra Leone.

Between 2015 and 2017, our firm was directly involved in the divestiture process of one (1) of the commercial banks in Sierra Leone.

Currently our firm is acting for a potential buyer of a National Telecommunications Company under the Sierra Leone Government’s divestiture program.

Our firm advises on the legal aspect of the method and structure of divestment, evaluating expression of interests, carrying out due diligence exercises, review and drafting of all transaction documents etc. Our Patricia Fomba (Mrs.) ensures regulatory compliance with the Central Bank and other regulatory authorities including the Corporate Affairs Commission

Our Anrité Thompson is currently engaged in the voluntary winding-up process of a mining company in Sierra Leone.

Our Anrité Thompson Esq. is currently engaged serving as legal adviser to the advisory committee on the privatization of the three (3) government parastatals and he oversees the drafting and review of contractual documents, advise on legal and regulatory requirements and ensures adherence to laws and regulations.

Our Rowland Wright Esq. jointly acted with a leading chartered accountant in the liquidation of one of the leading telecommunications companies in Sierra Leone which said exercise was completed in 2018.

In June of 2017, Rowland Wright was appointed as Legal Adviser to the Receiver of Commerce and Mortgage Bank (formerly known as HFC Mortgage and Savings (SL) PLC) and Sierra Leone Commercial Bank with a mandate to recover the indebtedness of Premier Investment (SL) Limited.

Our Rowland Wright Esq. was a consultant for the British Government’s Department for International Development (DFID), The United States of America’s Overseas Private Investment Cooperation (OPIC), solicitor for OPIC on the restart of the financing of the mining sector in Sierra Leone, consultant to the World Bank on several projects including Doing Business in Sierra Leone and Administrative Barriers to Trade in Sierra Leone and Lead Contributor to the World Bank compendium on Doing Business in Sierra Leone.

He also served as the drafter of the proposed legislation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Sierra Leone and is currently a board member of an insurance company and the chairman of the board of directors of a commercial bank in Sierra Leone. He is also a lecturer of banking law and international trade law at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.

In March of 2014, Rowland Wright was appointed as Legal Adviser to the Receiver of Comium (SL) Limited (an International Mobile Phone Service Provider) with a mandate to re-schedule its indebtedness, restructure the Company and to endeavour to sell it as a going concern.

In December 2013, Rowland Wright was contracted as consultant by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security after extensive consultations to develop a draft bill of Wetlands Conservation for Sierra Leone.

In February 2013, Rowland Wright was contracted as consultant by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security to primarily carry out a comprehensive review of two existing statutes to wit; the Forestry Act of 1988 an the Wildlife Conservation Act of 1972 and to prepare new replacement bills for enactment. 

In 2013, Rowland Wright was appointed consultant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone, his brief was to review and redraft the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone Act of Parliament 2008 and to develop a regulatory framework/code of conduct for the profession.

In 2012, Rowland Wright was appointed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry as consultant to review the Cooperatives Act of Sierra Leone and to draft proposed new bill and regulatory framework.

In 2007, appointed the implementing partner with the firm Emerging Markets Economies of London by the British Government’s Department for International Development, for the implementation of the “Private Sector Development Project for Sierra Leone” under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Sierra Leone, with a mandate to assist the Ministry with appraising and re-structuring the Trade and Investment regimes, environment and legislative/regulatory framework thereto.

Rowland Wright was appointed International Consultant in November 2005 to the Government of the Republic of the Gambia through its Capacity Building Economic Management Project (CBEMP) for the10 year Development Strategy for the Justice Sector and for the Legal Sector Reform Programme in the Gambia.

Rowland Wright acted for TOTAL in Sierra Leone in the acquisition of Mobil Petroleum in Sierra Leone, in conjunction with other acquisitions in West Africa. Sept/Oct. 2005.

Our Fees 



The Client has the option of choosing for us to bill by a ball pack fee estimated figure which would be capped at a particular amount for all the services to be rendered. Therefore, payment will not exceed the estimated capped figure.

Alternatively, we can bill on an hourly basis based on the number of lawyers involved in the work that is being done and the number of billable hours that is put in by each lawyer in the execution of the task involved.
